Ok so I earned $108 on June 14 for a six hour block. They are refusing to pay me. I went to the location I was assigned, checked in, and proceeded to wait in the designated waiting area. I didn't get any deliveries assigned to me that whole time. I made sure I was exactly where I was supposed to be and the app just said to wait until I was assigned deliveries which would show up in my app. The following is the correspondence I had with Amazon flex support about the issue. I dinner know what my next step should be.

I know I earned that $108 on June 14, 2017. It is illegal to with hold that from me. I arrived on time to the location I was assigned. I waited in the designated waiting area the whole time. Why does it say that when I was there the entire time? I want to resolve this without getting a lawyer involved.

Dear Amazon,

As a delivery driver who recently worked a shift for fresh food deliveries at Sprouts in Sacramento, the payment for my shift was recently revoked for "no services provided." I arrived early for my shift and waited as instructed in the Amazon driver waiting area for the duration of my shift. I have been assigned Amazon blocks through Sprouts in the past, and am familiar with the process of waiting until a delivery is assigned, then going into the store to pick up the delivery bags and taking them out for delivery. In this instance, my app instructed me to wait for the duration of the shift. I believe this payment was revoked by mistake, but if there is any question of the legitimacy of paying drivers in this situation, please see Amazon's information site (http://www.amazonflexinfo.com/what-is-it-like-to-do-restaurant-deliveries-for-amazon-flex), which defines waiting drivers who aren't working out of the warehouse as drivers who are still paid for their time as the law requires. Amazon states, "Oftentimes, you may be assigned to restaurant deliveries on quiet days or hours, and the app will continue to instruct you to wait for sometimes an entire delivery block. This can happen frequently on weekday afternoons between lunch and dinner, and if you can find a coffee shop nearby can be a great way to get paid to wait!"

That is truly ridiculous. I'm doing Amazon flex here in Kirkland, WA which I moved to from Seattle partly to be closer to my warehouse.

Amazon is making crazy amounts of money, and if there is any ambiguity in their app system which causes someone to waste 6 hours of their time and then they refuse to pay them, that's just sad.

Drivers already are making low wages, paying their own costs and expenses on vehicles and travel, and forgoing employee benefits as independent contractors to help Amazon capture even more market share.

It's really not that hard: if someone was scheduled for a shift and signed up, and was in the area and waiting, they should be paid.

If Amazon wants to create a system where shifts can be canceled when there are no packages, then they can do that, and be completely upfront about it in the terms and conditions of the app.

The app is a work in progress, why take it out on the little guy who is already helping them make millions for their own share of minimum wage if lucky.
